Successful Scaling through Social Media

WhatsApp Group

One of our biggest priorities in scaling Hygiene with Chhota Bheem has been to make something that isn’t just useful and effective, but is also sustainable well into the future.

To achieve this, we’ve worked hard to develop rich peer support networks for educators and facilitators to seek advice, share successes, and spread new hygiene education ideas inspired by Hygiene with Chhota Bheem. Some of these are in-person, but we’re really proud of the work we’ve been able to do on digital channels like WhatsApp.

Our WhatsApp group, which features more than 120 trained facilitators, was especially useful during our 2019 #BeatGermsWithBheem outreach campaign.

School headmasters and program facilitators were able to share photos of students making soapy bottles, watching story videos, and performing handwashing spells as our team visited schools and NGOs throughout Tamil Nadu.

Every day, our WhatsApp group was overflowing with hundreds of photos, videos, and stories from events being held across various districts.

In the future, we hope that this WhatsApp group can continue to be a powerful resource connecting these educators and helping them to spread hygiene and sanitation education to as many people as possible!
