The Teacher who became the student

Kamakshi

Kamakshi is a teacher at Arunodhaya, an NGO in Chennai, whose son was recently taught hygiene skills with our curriculum.

One day, at home, she noticed him using a lot of soap and water to wash his hands. Kamakshi had always instructed her son to wash his hands, but started to scold him for "wasting" so much soap!

Her son corrected her: "this is the proper method of handwashing they taught us at school!"

Later, Kamakshi was trained with our curriculum as part of a One Day Workshop at her NGO. Upon leaving, she realized that her son was right all along. “Though I always insist for him to wash hands after using the toilet, I never knew the right way of doing it!”

Now, both Kamakshi and her son use plenty of soap and water when washing their hands. We always love to see students become the teachers!
