The inspiring Master Trainer

J. Revathi

Revathi is the President of Children Women Welfare Educational Organization, an NGO which helps raise awareness for hygiene and sexual health issues impacting women and children, from breastfeeding to menstrual hygiene education.

Additionally, she was one of the first Master Trainers we certified through our four-day certification course. After becoming certified to facilitate our curriculum, Revathi went above and beyond, making handwashing a key focus in her work.

In a recent visit to a local university, she trained 60 college students to facilitate the curriculum. Initially, the plan was simply to train these 60 student volunteers, but thanks to Revathi’s ingenuity, they created a ripple effect. These volunteers became trainers themselves, and now more than 670 students from 6th to 12th grade have learned about handwashing and created soapy bottles as a result of Revathi’s efforts.

But she didn’t stop there. Revathi’s NGO also conducts medical camps in rural areas. These medical camps are an absolutely essential service; for these communities, these camps might be the only time in a month or more that they have access to trained medical personnel. Entire families, including small children, may face a wait of hours to see a doctor.

Revathi turned this long, frustrating wait time into an amazing education opportunity. She taught staff at the camp to run the curriculum for the children, teaching them handwashing songs and making soapy bottles with them. Not only are the children who attend these camps no longer bored, but they learn potentially life-saving information and become advocates for their communities.

To us, Revathi is the perfect example of how one motivated, dedicated trainer can create monumental change for a community. We’re amazed by her impact!
