About

Hygiene with Chhota Bheem is a play-based curriculum designed to encourage hand washing with soap and toilet use among children ages 7 - 11 in India.

20% of annual deaths from diarrhea and pneumonia in children-under-five around the world happen in India, and access to hygiene education can mean the difference between life and death. That’s why we created Hygiene with Chhota Bheem, a play-based curriculum that encourages hand washing with soap and toilet use among children ages 7 - 11 in India. By watching story videos, reading books, singing songs and even playing a mobile game, all starring Chhota Bheem- India’s most beloved cartoon character, children develop the skills to become hygiene advocates that drive real change in their communities.
In just two years, Hygiene with Chhota Bheem has made an amazing impact on children’s hygiene knowledge, behaviors, and advocacy across Tamil Nadu. We’ve reached almost 20,000 children and trained more than 1000 teachers, community health workers, and nurses. Our program, now available in English, Tamil and Hindi, has been taught in more than 80 governmental & non-governmental organizations. We want to do even more. But now, we need you. We want to bring Hygiene with Chhota Bheem to every school and hygiene organization in India, and make sure no child dies from preventable illness. Join the Bheem Team, and help us transform children into community hygiene superheroes.
